Chile’s National Commission for Scientific and Technological Research (CONICYT) follows two broad strategic objectives: promoting the training of human capital and strengthening Chile’s scientific and technological base. This comission is in charge of the two pillars of scientific research in Chile: the National Fund for Scientific and Technological Development (FONDECYT) and the Program for the Formation of Advanced Human Capital Program. FONDECYT is the main public fund of this kind in the country and has financed over 16000 research projects and PFCHA-CONICYT is the main government agency in charge of managing scholarships for graduate studies.
