María Cecilia Pardo Gandarillas
Actual occupation: Postdoc
Institution: Universidad de Chile
Research on: Comparative Evolutionary, Biogeographic and phylogeographic patterns of marine molluscs species.
Educational Background:
2012 PhD. in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, Universidad de Chile
1999 Bachelor in Biological Science. Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.
Research Interest: My research focuses on understanding the biodiversity, ecology and evolution of marine invertebrates (e.g., mollusks). At this time, I find myself studying the macroevolutionary and microevolutionary processes that determine the evolution of biological, ecological and biogeographic features of mollusks that inhabit the Pacific Ocean. The aim of this work is to integrate information on their biology, ecology, and distribution, in order to discover biogeographical patterns, evaluate the historical changes that have formed and thus to propose a scenario of their evolution.
