Katherin Eliana Alejandra Otálora Acevedo
Actual occupation: MSc Student
Institution: Universidad de Chile
Research on: Phylogeography of the genus Telmatobius in the Chilean Altiplano.
Educational Background:
2015 – Present. MSc, Universidad de Chile. Dissertation title: “Phylogeographic analysis of Andean frog Telmatobius chusmisensis ”. Advisors: Marco Méndez.
2009 – 2014. BSc, Universidad Pedagógica y Tecnológica de Colombia. Dissertation title: “Obtaining and analysis of mitochondrial genome of marine turtle Caretta caretta in Colombian caribbean”. Advisors: Javier Hernández.
Research Interest: My research interest is the analysis of evolutionary patterns in amphibians and reptiles, based primarily on the use of molecular tools and population genetics to delineate evolutionary units, management units in conservation processes, gene flow, determining connectivity patterns through the landscape and historical processes that could leave evolutionary marks on the demographics and the current geographical distribution of organisms. Additionally I am interested in using tools of NGS for differential expression analysis to identify local adaptation.
